Long Island Ducks Tee Shirts
The Long Island Ducks are a professional baseball team playing the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB). Through a contact in the team offices, I got the opportunity to design a couple of shirts for the team to sell in the ballpark’s team store and their online shop. They wanted two designs: one for young kids, and one for adults.
For the adult tee, I wanted to create a trendy throwback design. The team has only been around since the late-90s but I wanted something that felt retro, and so I drew inspiration from one of New York’s original baseball teams: the Brooklyn Dodgers. I added a distressed texture and selected a nice, soft tri-blend heather tee to print it on.
For the kids tee, I explored a handful of different ideas and landed on the one above. The Ducks core logo is very cartoon-y and I wanted to bring a little more intensity and excitement to it. I pictured an “athletic-looking” duck stealing second with feathers blowing in the wind—and of course, some eye-black.
